Ben Folds

"I want to ask you, do you ever sit and wonder..." what to do on a Saturday night with people you didn't even know were your friends until there is some alcohol, Ben Folds, and strobe lights? Well last Saturday, Susan was able to score some sweet VIP tickets for the Ben Folds concert here in town. I did not know much about Ben Folds..only that there was a 'Five' at some point at the end of his name and that he does awesome renditions of "Bitches Ain't Shit" (who writes these lyrics?!).

About five girls all met over at Susan's before the show and unfortunately for the lives of the cookies, they were placed out in front of me and I was hungry. I am not a drinker, so while the other girls focused on the beer, I was focused on some amazing chocolate walnut cookies. The cookies were actually made for Ben and Susan was going to give them to him at the show. Confusing yes I know, however, Susan feels that her life's purpose is to cook for people and make them happy through food. Her life's purpose is well accomplished.

We arrived at the Murat around 7ish and hung out in the VIP lounge for a bit while the opening act took the stage. I had never heard of this band, but they were amazing. Something like, Jukebox Ghost(?).

Around 9pm, Ben took the stage and the crowd went nuts. I wasn't sure if I would be able to keep up my enthusiasm for this guy that I had only heard a few songs of. I did not need to worry about that for too long. The whole band was so entertaining. At one point Ben put a couple of tins of Altoids in the piano so that it would make a completely different sound. The man is a musical genius. Now I know why he has such a strong following.
